Since the 1970’s, Streeter & The Tribe, are among one of the first Soul Bands born out of Memphis, Tennessee to release original music. The Tribe was a vision set out by songwriter, producer, and professional drummer, Charles Streeter.
Streeter formed Streeter & The Tribe after returning to Memphis from Los Angeles in 2016. The creation of Streeter & Tribe began with engaging with a few of Memphis’ finest musicians and sought after vocalists to form a cover band. After the musical stage was set, the band would put away cover tunes and begin production of their own original music and sound. Streeter & Tribe, a group of uniquely talented friends and artists joined together to create a new sound of funk, soul, jazz, and r&b.
Streeter & The Tribe’s inspiration comes from revolutionary Memphis artists Isaac Hayes, The Barkays, Al Green, and other sounds of Stax and Hi Recording artists. The Tribe is composed of various musical elements including twelve band members. Streeter (Drums/vocals), Stephanie McCoy (vocals), DeCarlo Williams (vocals), Britne Lauderdale (vocals), Thomas T.O. Crivens (guitar/ vocals), Eric Mackey (guitar/vocals), David Pruitt (percussion/vocals), Darryl “DJ” Pruitt (bass/vocals), Darryl Sanford (keys), The Exodus Horn Section (Jeremy Lewis, Randy Ballard, Nathan Duvall).
